Formatting options are saved with your templates, including the use of grouping and any group formatting.
A common use case is to build a template where all the tests in a group are formatted similarly, such as identical coloring. This article walks through an example of setting this up using group template formatting.
Step 1: Build a workspace that will serve as the basis for a template
Create a workspace that uses one of the "Group and Categories" options, and select the desired formatting options for each group in the Formatting tab. In this example, tests in Analysis Group 1 have blue trace formatting, and tests in Analysis Group 2 have orange trace formatting.
Make sure that the selected tests are grouped together by analysis group (or device attributes), under "Groups & Categories".

Step 2: Turn the workspace into a template
Go to the workspaces tab, and click on the three dots on the far right. Select the "Save as Template" option, and give the new template an appropriate name.

Step 3: Load more data into the new template
Go to the search page and select additional data. Load it into the template by clicking the "Templates" button.
Upon loading it into a new workspace, a modal titled "Analysis Group Formatting" will pop up. Click the "+ Analysis Group" button to add new analysis groups as needed. Click and drag the tests to rearrange them into the new analysis group.

Step 4: Generate the new workspace
Click the "Save" button in the Analysis Group Formatting modal to generate the new workspace.
The group formatting options are automatically applied to all new tests. All tests in Analysis Group 1 have blue trace formatting, and all tests in Analysis Group 2 have orange formatting.

Grouping by device attributes
It's also possible for templates to apply formatting based on device attributes.

When device attributes are used for grouping, they will default to use all available elements. If the same device attributes from the original workspace are present, the formatting options used for that group will remain consistent in the workspace generated by the template.
